Bridging Vietnamese Handicrafts
Bách Tác Space is a collective space dedicated to showcase, connect, and foster trade in artisanal gifts while creating opportunities for interaction with talented artisans from across Vietnam.
Bách Tác Space is inspired by "Cuc Bach Tac" - the state handicraft department of the Le dynasty during the 15th century where talented artisans from across Vietnam once gathered to craft objects for the royal court. "Cuc Bach Tac" is a Sino-vietnamese phrase. Word by word, "Bach" is hundred and "Tac" means works.
Today, Bách Tác Space continues that legacy as a destination bridging past and present, connecting heritage and contemporary life, artisans and craft makers across the country, and above all, a bridge between craftsmanship and those who cherish it.
Bách Tác Space celebrates the artistry and dedication embedded in each handmade piece by prioritizing and endorsing handicrafts carefully curated from across Vietnam. We collaborate with artisans who share a common vision: prioritizing locally sourced materials, incorporating traditional techniques into their processes, and placing people at the heart of production.
Each maker honors time-honored practices such as weaving, pottery coil-building, lacquer painting, papermaking,… while reimagining them through a contemporary lens. Rooted in local materials and human-centered craftsmanship, these works reflect both tradition and innovation.
Handicrafts at Bách Tác Space reflect the richness of Vietnam's culture, each brings a distinct identity: the North reflects cultural depth through long-standing traditions such as do paper and lacquerware; the Central region embodies a dialogue between heritage and revival, such as Phap Lam (Enamel Art); while the South expresses a more open and experimental spirit, with handcrafted ceramics and leatherwork.
